Reduce Filtration, Save on Maintenance

Hooks and Eyelets cover

The traditional Hooks & Eyelets Cover differs from our Solid Safety Cover in appearance, design and safety features.

Although it is made of the same PVC as our Solid Safety Cover and provides similar benefits, the Hooks & Eyelets Cover is NOT a safety cover!

This cover can be used for almost any shape of pool. However, because it doesn’t have any built-in aluminium poles or ratchet anchors, the cover can’t be tensioned sufficiently to prevent a child from squeezing underneath. Though it is safe for dogs and cats because they can easily move across it.

The cover has a good weight tolerance seeing that it’s resting on the body of the pool water. This means that the pool has to stay full to support the cover, because it is not self-supporting. This cover only provides a small degree of safety because rainwater can still accumulate on top of the cover, posing a risk to curious toddlers.

When there is an excessive amount of rainwater accumulated on top of the cover, we recommend a small submersible utility pump. This can be used to drain the clean water from the cover into a storage tank or onto the grass. A small submersible water feature pump retail from around R250. These units are electrically-powered and easy to operate. Once correctly positioned, simply activate the power switch and drain the water through its outlet line.

The cover is installed over the body of the pool water and then secured to the surrounding paving with hooks and eyelets. We use stainless steel for our self-locking anchoring plates, the screws used to secure the plates to the surrounding paving are also made of stainless steel.

We use bungee lead tied through the eyelets and attached to the durable non-corrosive hooks, allowing the pool user to easily slot the hooks into the keyholes of the anchor plates.

The weight of the cover will increase in proportion to the size of the pool. While there are alternative methods for covering one’s pool that do not require picking it up, it’s recommended that two people open and close the cover. This is best achieved by sliding the cover onto the body of water when fitting the cover, then sliding it from the water when removing the cover. Roll-up stations can be introduced subject to the size and shape of your swimming pool.
